Privacy Policy

Black Collegiates (“Black Collegiates,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Black Collegiates website, mobile application, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Information you provide. When you join the waitlist or create an account, we collect your name, email address (including your school-issued .edu email when used for verification), phone number (optional), and any content you voluntarily submit.
- Authentication data. If you sign in with a third-party identity provider (such as Google), we receive your basic profile information (name, email, profile photo) as authorized by that provider.
- Usage data. Standard log data such as device type, operating system, browser, approximate location derived from IP address, pages viewed, and timestamps.
- Cookies and similar technologies. Used to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and measure aggregate usage. You can disable cookies in your browser, but parts of the Service may not function properly.
2. How we use information
- To create, secure, and operate your account.
- To verify your eligibility (for example, confirming a valid .edu email).
- To send you transactional messages, waitlist updates, and product announcements you have asked to receive.
- To detect, prevent, and respond to abuse, fraud, or violations of our Terms of Use.
- To improve the Service and develop new features.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described below:
- Service providers. With trusted vendors who help us operate the Service (for example, Google Firebase for authentication, database hosting, and analytics) under contractual confidentiality and security obligations.
- Other users. Profile information you choose to make visible is shared with other members of the community according to your privacy settings.
- Legal and safety. When required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of users or the public.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, with continued obligations under this Policy.
4. Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed we delete or anonymize it.
5. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, port, or delete your personal information, and to opt out of certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email toye@thebubblervr.com. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.
6. Account and data deletion
You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information at any time by emailing toye@thebubblervr.com from the email address on file, or by using the in-app delete option once available. We process verified requests within 30 days. Some information may be retained as required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.
7. Children’s privacy
The Service is intended for college students and adults age 17 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
8. Security
We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International users
The Service is operated in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States.
10. Third-party links and services
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services that we do not control. This Policy does not apply to those services. We encourage you to review their privacy practices.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service prior to the change becoming effective. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
